100 Conversations at Locate, and the Same Few Problems Every Time

100 Conversations at Locate, and the Same Few Problems Every Time

We didn't go into Locate planning to write a blog post about it. We went in planning to set up a counter, let
people try the products, and have a few good conversations along the way. But somewhere around the fortieth
conversation that started to sound exactly like the thirty-ninth, we realized we were sitting on something worth
writing down.

Over the course of the event, we spoke to well over a hundred customers at our counter. Different ages,
different skin tones, different makeup habits. But the concerns they brought up were, again and again, almost
identical. If you've ever felt like your makeup just doesn't understand your skin, this one's for you, because
apparently, you're far from alone.

The Trust Problem With Local Makeup

This came up more than anything else. So many of the women who stopped by told us some version of the
same thing: they've tried looking for local makeup they can actually trust, and kept coming up short. Not
because local brands don't exist, but because the ones they'd tried either didn't perform, didn't last, or didn't
feel like they were made with their skin in mind.

There's a quiet frustration in that. People want to support local; they want a halal makeup brand in Pakistan
they can rely on, but they've been let down enough times that they've stopped expecting it. That's exactly the
gap we built Haya Beauty to close, and hearing it confirmed, face to face, by dozens of strangers in one
afternoon, felt like a purpose was fulfilled.

Why Imported Foundation Doesn't Survive Here

The second pattern was just as consistent: international makeup, the kind that performs beautifully in reviews
and tutorials filmed in cooler, drier climates, simply doesn't hold up here. Foundation that oxidizes within
hours. Concealer that creases by noon. Products formulated for skin and weather conditions that aren't ours.

Multiple customers told us they'd spent real money on imported foundations only to watch them slide off by
early afternoon. That's not a user error, that's a formulation problem. Karachi's humidity, and Pakistan's
climate more broadly, is a different environment than what most international formulas are built and tested for.

This is a big part of why our [Waterproof Foundation](https://www.haya-beauty.com/products/liquid-
foundation) exists the way it does: built for long wear in heat and humidity specifically, not adapted from a
formula meant for somewhere else.

Oily Skin and Karachi Humidity Are Not a Fair Fight

Closely tied to the last point, but specific enough that it deserves its own mention: oily skin and humid air are a
brutal combination for makeup longevity, and almost every customer with oilier skin told us they'd basically
given up expecting their base to survive the day.

By early afternoon, foundation starts breaking down, concealer slides into fine lines, and that "your skin but
better" look turns patchy. It's a familiar cycle for a lot of people here, and it's exactly the problem long-wear,
humidity-resistant formulas need to solve, not with a thicker, heavier product, but a smarter one.

Finding a Shade That Actually Matches, Not Just Comes Close

Here's where a lot of these conversations turned a corner. When customers tried our shade range, specifically
our foundation and concealer, we kept hearing the same relief in their voice: "this actually matches me." Not
close. Not "good enough." Matches.

Haya's shade range was developed with brown skin tones as the starting point, not an afterthought added to
extend an existing Western shade card. That distinction matters more than people realize until they finally find
a shade that disappears into their skin instead of sitting on top of it. For everyday wear, that kind of match is
the difference between makeup that looks done and makeup that looks like your skin, just more even.

The Blush Stick Test We Didn't Think We'd Win

If one single activity defined the day, it was this: we set up a side-by-side comparison, our [Multi-Use Blush
Stick](https://www.haya-beauty.com/products/multi-use-blush-stick) against a well-known international
blush stick, and let customers apply both, blend both, and decide for themselves. No pressure, no pitch, just
two products on two sides of the hand.

We weren't sure how it would go. International brands carry a certain assumption of quality, fair or not. But
round after round, the result was the same: customers preferred HAYA. Better pigment payoff with less
product, a finish that blended into skin rather than sitting on it, and a formula that didn't fade within the hour
the way the comparison product did on several people.

What made it powerful wasn't us saying it. It was customers testing both, unprompted, and telling us
themselves. A few even asked if they could do the comparison again on their other hand, just to be sure.

What It Comes Down To

Mostly, that the problems people assume are "just how makeup is" aren't universal truths, they're signs that
the product wasn't built for their skin, their climate, or their routine in the first place. Local, for us, was never
meant to be a lesser alternative to international beauty. It was meant to be the version actually built for the
people wearing it.

If you've dealt with foundation that doesn't survive the afternoon, shades that almost match, or a blush that
fades before lunch is over, we'd genuinely love for you to try HAYA and see if it holds up the way it did for the
people at Locate. You can explore the full range, including the products customers kept coming back to, at
[haya-beauty.com](https://www.haya-beauty.com).

To everyone who stopped by, tried a shade, compared a blush stick, or just talked to us for five minutes: thank
you. This post exists because of those conversations.
